Clayton offers a wonderful, private pool designed specifically for young children. Measuring 8.5m x 3.5m, the pool has a uniform depth of 1m and is maintained at a comfortable temperature (between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius) making it an ideal environment for beginners to build their confidence.

Lesson Structure
​
Our beginner lessons accommodate up to four children per class, while swimmer lessons can have up to five.
Instructors are in the water to provide hands-on guidance. Although parents cannot observe poolside due to space constraints, they are welcome to watch through the window in the changing room.
For very nervous beginners, we offer the option for a parent to accompany their child in the pool during the initial classes to help them settle in. Additionally, we provide a two-week trial period, allowing you to ensure your child is happy and in the right lesson before committing to the entire term.

Progression and Skill Development
​
​As children advance, our lessons focus on the essential technical aspects of swimming, including:
Maintaining a streamlined body position
Proper use of arms and legs for propulsion
Focusing on the four strokes: Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, and Butterfly
Throughout their time with us, children have the opportunity to work towards a variety of Swim England accredited awards and certificates, making their swimming journey both exciting and rewarding.​

Parking is available at Clayton Recreation Ground, opposite the venue.

Coming from Hassocks:
From the Stonepound crossroads at Hassocks, take the Brighton Road (A273) towards Brighton.
Past the South Downs Garden Centre on your left and the Jack and Jill Pub on your right, take the second left into Underhill Lane.
Drive past the Church and Clayton Court Barn is on your right.
The car park entrance is a little further down the lane on your left.
From the pedestrian access, the pool is situated in a small barn straight ahead of you as you enter.

Coming from Brighton:
Take the exit for Hassocks from the A23 onto Clayton Hill (A273) towards Hassocks.
Drive up and over Clayton Hill passing the golf club on your right and The Three Greys Riding Stables on your left.
At the bottom of the hill, take the first right into Underhill Lane (it comes up quite quickly at the bottom of the hill, if you pass the B2112 to Ditchling on your right you have gone too far and can use the car park of the Jack and Jill Pub on your left to turn around in).
Once in Underhill Lane, drive past the Church and Clayton Court Barn is on your right.
The car park entrance is a little further down the lane on your left.
